- How do I add a new expense?
Tap the Add Expense button, enter the amount, category, and optional note, then save.
- Where is my data stored?
All expense data is stored locally on your device only. No personal expense data is uploaded to our servers by default.
- Do I need an account or login?
No โ the app works without login. You can start tracking expenses instantly.
- Can I use the app offline?
Yes. The app works completely offline, anytime, anywhere.
- Why am I seeing ads?
We display banner ads in the app using Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Ads help keep the app free to use and support ongoing development.
- Will my expense data be shared?
No โ your expense entries remain on your device. However, AdMob (the ad provider) may collect limited technical information necessary to show and personalize ads; see details below.
๐ Privacy, Ads & Security
Important: Expense Tracker still stores your expense entries locally. However, because the app includes ads, the ad provider (Google/AdMob) may collect limited device and advertising data to deliver and improve ads.
What AdMob may collect
Google Mobile Ads may collect or use:
- Device information (model, OS version)
- Advertising identifiers (for example: IDFA on iOS)
- General location information (city-level, not precise GPS) โ only if your device settings allow
- Interaction data with ads (e.g., impressions, clicks)
AdMob uses this information to deliver ads and (when enabled) to personalize ad content. This is governed by Googleโs privacy policies; you can review Googleโs privacy information on their official site.
Manage ad personalization
If you prefer not to receive personalized ads, you can turn off ad personalization or reset your advertising identifier using your device settings:
- On iOS: go to Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Tracking and choose whether apps can request to track. You can also reset your Advertising Identifier in Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Apple Advertising (availability depends on OS version).
Note: exact menu names may vary by OS version and device model.
Firebase Analytics & Crash Reporting
We also use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand app usage and fix crashes. These services collect aggregate usage and crash data (device model, app version, crash stack traces) and are not used to build a personal profile tied to your identity.
